Huge Success at Youth Commonwealth Games

The 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad will be remembered as a remarkable success for our swimmers. Northern Ireland sent 6 swimmers to the Games, Ellie McCartney,Grace Davison,Brandon Biss,Alana Burns-Aitkin, Matthew Hand and Dylan Registe.

Northern Ireland finished 5th in the medal table with 3 golds,3 silvers and 2 bronze. Ellie McCartney became Youth Games Champion in the 200m Breaststroke and the 200m IM, as well as this she finished in bronze medal position in the 100m Breaststroke. Her team mate Grace Davison won the 400m IM, and finished in silver medal position in the 200IM for the first one-two finish for Northern Ireland at the Youth Games. Brandon Biss finished in silver medal position in the 100m Backstroke and bronze medal position in the 200m Backstroke.

Swim Ulster would like to congratulate all 6 of the swimmers on their outstanding achievements at the Youth Commonwealth Games. Their remarkable performances, which lead to winning medals, setting best times and swimming in finals, showcase the talent and are a testament to the athletes and coaches.
