Day 2 at the Swim Ulster Schools Cup and Championships saw another great day of competition with swimmers from all levels competing. A total of six Schools Cups were presented with Regent House winning the Melanie Nocher Schools Cup for Girls and Down High School winning the Andrew Bree Senior Schools Cup for boys.

Day 1 at the Schools Cup and Championships

Swim Ulster inaugural Schools Championships got underway today at Bangor Aurora. Day 1 was focused on children aged 7-12 with some exceptional swimming throughout.  Swim Ulster’s Operations Manager was delighted with day 1 “This has been a fantastic first day with school children from all over Ulster competing. We have almost 1100 athletes entered and from nearly 250 schools. The pupils have been an absolute credit to their respective schools.”

Statement from Swim Ireland & Swim Ulster

Swim Ireland & Swim Ulster would like to clarify the situation in regard to pathway for qualifying for the 2016 Irish Minor & Senior Schools events. The Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships which takes place during the weekend of 17th & 18th October 2015 is the only qualifying event.

Discussions which have been taking place in regard to recognising a second qualifying event have been unsuccessful despite the best efforts of all concerned. We would like to place on record our thanks to the individuals who have contributed positively to discussions and would hope that they would continue to work with us for the development of schools swimming in the region.

Pre Season Skills Camp at Finn Valley

Finn Valley skills camp 10-15th August

Swim Ulster took its Skills camp initiative to Finn Valley leisure centre in Donegal this week. This skills camps have been a fantastic way to get out to swimmers from different clubs around the province and provide a bit of support on their doorstep. They have toured around the province at school holiday times and are open to any Swim Ulster club member within the targeted age range.

Ulster had a smaller number of swimmers than usual at the ASA championships this summer due to the high number of Junior International competitions on the calendar, but the swimmers that did go did you province proud with some very impressive performances.

Irish Age Group Championships and Summer Open

For many domestic swimmers this competition is the climax of their whole season when they get to test themselves against the best swimmers in Ireland in an age group competition. As usual Ulster swimmers had an incredibly successful meet.
