Alliance ASC

Alliance ASC

County Antrim

Alliance Amateur Swimming Club (Alliance ASC) is a swimming Club strongly rooted in North Belfast. We have around 90 swimmers aged from 7 years to 20 years who train at our regular sessions in the Grove, Ballysillan and Belfast Royal Academy pools.

Alliance ASC was founded in 1946 by a group of young men and women living in the Alliance area of North Belfast.  An outbreak of polio had closed all the public pools in Belfast and the group got together to swim at Macedon point on the north foreshore of Belfast Lough. Thankfully they returned “indoors” once the pools re-opened and over 70 years later the club is still thriving as the main competitive swimming club in North Belfast.

Alliance has a strong and deserved reputation as “family friendly”, welcoming swimmers of all abilities and ambitions. Swimmers compete in the Forest Feast Aquasprint League, inter-club competitions and Swim Ulster Development Galas. We have recently established a partnership agreement with Templemore ASC to provide swimmers with further opportunities to develop in the sport. We also run a “learn to swim” section in Belfast Royal Academy on Friday evenings.

Alliance ASC Club is the perfect choice for young people who want to swim, compete and most importantly enjoy the sport.
